Take an Eye Exam

When you arrived, the Government of Canada normally gave you the The Refugee Protection Claimant Document (RPCD) with an IUC number. It's commonly known as "brown paper".

It is required to take advantage of a free eye exam (for this, you must make an appointment with an optometrist), as well as getting free or low-cost glasses.

Choose your Service Point

Check out our schedule and pick your preferred service point. Read carefully, a lot of service points are appointment-only. Dont forget to bring:

1. Your prescription
2. Your brown paper (with the IUC number)

Confirm your Eligibility

Thanks to the brown paper, our optician will be able to confirm your eligibility with Blue Cross Médavie.

If approved, you'll be entitled to an allocated amount for the purchase of glasses once every two years.

If NOT approved, don't worry about it. We'll find a solution.

Make
your selection

With your prescription, the optician can help you make your selection. Learn more about our standard rates by visiting our Prices and Guarantees section.

NEW STARTING MAY 1

The program requires a copayment equal to 30% of the total cost of your glasses. You will therefore have to pay a little less than one-third of the final bill.

Pick up
your selection

As soon as they are ready, we contact you so you can come and pick them up. We’ll make small adjustments if needed for your visual comfort.

That’s it. You can now enjoy your glasses!
