Eyeglasses: questions and answers

Prescription glasses

For nearly twenty years, Bonhomme à lunettes has been making eyeglasses affordable for everyone. We have served tens of thousands of customers, saved them hundreds of thousands of dollars, and donated over $1.5 million to community organizations. What's more, we have answered tons and tons of YOUR questions about the main topic of this whole story: prescription eyeglasses.

We are therefore sharing with you the most popular questions in the history of Bonhomme à lunettes (for your questions about how Bonhomme works in general, it's here!

What are the Criteria for Purchasing Glasses From You?

There's one criteria to be a customer at Le Bonhomme à Lunettes, you need glasses! Obviously, it is essential to have an eye exam (we do not perform them) and bring your prescription. But please note that we do not turn anyone away.

If I Like My Frames, Can I Keep Them ?

Sure. Absolutely. It's cheaper for you. It does need to be in good condition, though. But if you still like it, who are we to ask you to change it? We'll just make lenses for your new prescription and you're good to go!

Do You Guys Have ___________ (insert famous brand here)?

No. We do not carry any prestigious brands. Our inventory is a happy mix of generic brands and our home brands. Why don't we carry prestigious brands? Simply because we believe that these famous brands increase the price for no reason. Generic frames are often manufactured in the same factories and on the same assembly lines as luxury brands. We are convinced that they offer better value for money. Furthermore, the absence of brands allows us to offer all our frames at a single price: $79.

Add some solid guarantees, and you don't have to worry about a thing. Our glasses are high quality, as evidenced by the fact that we were twice recommended by les éditions Protégez-Vous !

Can I Get a Pair of Sunglasses Here?

Yes. We make sunglasses in all colors, as well as transition lenses. The principle is simple: you choose the frames you like and discuss your lens requirements with the optician.

I Lost My Glasses. What Can I Do?

If you purchased your glasses here, we have some great news! The Bad Luck special exists precisely for this type of situation. Basically, our philosophy is this: we made the money we wanted to make when you made your first purchase, so we won't take advantage of your misfortune to make even more. We'll give you a great discount that will allow you to continue seeing clearly without hurting your wallet!

Do You Make Eyeglasses For ________ (insert a prescription type here) ?

Yes! We fill ALL prescriptions. Some people think that because we are a community eyewear store, we are limited in the types of prescriptions we can fill. Rest assured: this is not the case! Quite simply because we source our products from the same places as everyone else in the industry. So even if you have a complex prescription, don't hesitate to come and see us!

Should my glasses have a blue light filter?

Not necessarily. We offer blue light filters, but our opticians will always ask you the same question: do you really need one? We also have another blog post on the subject, if you're interested. But the short answer is: with reasonable screen time and blue light filters enabled on your smartphones/tablets/computers, you can easily do without them and save your money for something else.

My glasses are broken/need adjusting. Can I bring them in to have them repaired/adjusted?

Yes. We are always happy to adjust your glasses. We can also repair them, when possible. With all our years of experience at your service, we can sometimes work small miracles. Other times, there is simply nothing we can do. What's more, here's a little secret between you and us: even if your glasses weren't purchased from us, we will still be happy to help you. At the end of the day, the important thing is to see clearly!
