FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

(for the various government programs, visit the How it Works section)

Our frames are $79, which is $10 more than in our first year in 2007. For lenses, it depends. As there are several specific factors involved in prescriptions, we are unable to give a precise answer, as explained in in this blog post. We never do deals and special offers since our prices are low every day. We see ourselves as a sort of safety net. For this reason, we always find an affordable solution for your budget and according to your needs.

DO YOU HAVE CONTACT LENSES?

Unfortunately no. That would require too much equipment for mobile opticians!

DO YOU HAVE SUNGLASSES?

Yes, our sunglasses are just as inexpensive as our regular glasses. What's more, they're available with all prescriptions.

CAN I KEEP MY FRAMES?

Yes, it will cost you less! However, we are required to inform you that there is a risk of breakage. It is very rare, but it does happen sometimes. Of course, we will find a solution if this is the case.

CAN I USE YOUR SERVICE, OR IS IT ONLY FOR PEOPLE ON WELFARE?

No matter your situation, we will be happy to welcome you without asking for your financial statements. Our mission remains the same: to make buying glasses accessible to everyone! Rest assured, you are not taking anyone's place. It's our job, and you are helping us by contributing to the funding of certain community organizations in your area.

WHAT ARE YOUR GUARANTEES?

We want to offer you a a relaxed experience. Got a problem? Come and see us and we'll sort it out. Our work is guaranteed. Our frames and lens treatments are guaranteed against manufacturing defects for 1 year. Your adaptation to the prescription is guaranteed for 3 months.

IS MY PRESCRIPTION STILL VALID?

For your prescription to be valid, it must:

  • Be less than two years old
  • Must be signed and dated by the optometrist
  • It can come from another country or province, as long as the two conditions listed above are met.

DO YOU SELL USED FRAMES?

No. We only sell new frames and new lenses. We are able to sell at lower prices because we use our knowledge and market forces to our advantage to offer you excellent value for money by carefully selecting our suppliers.

WHY ARE THERE NO DATES ON YOUR SCHEDULE?

Normally, we have a weekly schedule! Same day, same time, same place every week. However, we recommend that you always check the schedule before coming in, as some organizations have different frequencies. In this case, click on VIEW CALENDAR.

DO YOU HAVE AN ONLINE STORE?

No. We chose not to have any, to keep our operating costs as low as possible and pass on the savings to our customers. That's how we've been able to keep our base prices almost unchanged since 2007.

WHERE SHOULD I TAKE MY EYE EXAM?

Unfortunately, we do not perform eye exams at Bonhomme à lunettes because we are opticians.

For an eye exam, you must see an optometrist. Their code of ethics is clear: the prescription belongs to you, and you have the right to request it and purchase your glasses elsewhere.

DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

If you look at our schedule, you will see which service points require an appointment. Just call the number on the schedule. For walk-in service points, simply show up within the indicated time slot. No need to arrive first, we'll see everyone!

DO YOU ACCEPT EYEWEAR DONATIONS?

We have a partnership with Optométristes Sans Frontières. You can give us your old glasses and we'll be happy to pass them on to them for use in various humanitarian missions.
