How to make some back-to-school savings with Bonhomme à lunettes

Économiser pour la rentrée

The start of the school year brings with it a flood of expenses that can hurt your budget. For parents, this can be a challenge, especially when finances are tight. At Bonhomme à lunettes, we propose two very simple solutions that will be easy on your eyes and your wallet.

For Kids: The See Better to Succeed Program

It's a RAMQ's program for kids glasses. It was created a few years ago to combat vision problems in schools. It offers $300 toward the purchase of eyeglasses for children and teens 17 and under with a valid health insurance card. At Bonhomme à lunettes, that means you'll get three pairs* of glasses for the amount reimbursed. Here's how it works:

(IMPORTANT: You must do an eye exam before coming to see us!)

  1. Come see us with your child 17 and under at one of our service points.
  2. Have him/her choose 3 frames (and pay $300)
  3. Fill out the reimbursement form available on the RAMQ website
  4. Come pick up the glasses when they're ready
  5. Receive a wonderful $300 check in the mail a few weeks later.

Three pairs of glasses for free* (after reimbursement) is undoubtedly a great way to save money for back-to-school season!

For Parents: Buy your Next Glasses Here

For over fifteen years, our mission has been simple: to make buying glasses accessible to everyone. In concrete terms, that means frames for $79 (all our frames are the same price), single vision lenses starting at $55, and progressive lenses starting at $115.

Our secret to saving you money? An innovative business model based on service points (rather than branches), end-of-line frames (rather than the latest models), and generic lenses (rather than designer lenses).

(There are also certain reimbursement programs depending on status. Visit the How It Works tab on the main page for more details)

With all this, you see better, our guarantees allow you to sleep soundly while saving money for the back-to-school season. Sometimes up to a few hundred dollars. Don't worry, you're not compromising on quality. That's why we've performed very well twice in a row in Protégez-Vous's publications!

*Addition to the request from the Order of Opticians: with in-stock lenses (AR and RAE in 1.5, 1.56, and 1.6. And single-vision CR39 surface lenses, RD 22 CR39 lenses, and ST-28 CR39 lenses.) So approximately 97.2% of prescriptions for children. Excludes progressive lenses. Does not include progressive lenses.
