At Bonhomme à lunettes, we pride ourselves on offering our customers excellent service. It's not for nothing that we've been recommended twice by Éditions Protégez-Vous. Because we know that life is full of surprises, we are offering solid guarantees and quality after-sales service. That being said, if you don't want to see us too often, this article is for you. Here are five practical tips for eyewear care:
Clean Regularly
Regular cleaning is crucial to remove dust, fingerprints and other dirt. Use a microfiber cloth to gently clean the lenses. For a more thorough cleaning, rinse your glasses under lukewarm water. Apply a small drop of mild soap (no lotion) and rub gently with your fingers. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, then dry with a cloth or paper towel. Special eyewear cleaning products are also effective, but more expensive.
Handle with Care
Handle your glasses with care. As far as possible, try not to fall asleep with your glasses. If you only knew the number of customers who have come to us, looking pitiful, because they've crushed their frames while moving around during the night! Always place them on the temples, not on the lenses, to prevent scratches. Use a rigid case (we have them if you ever need them) when you're not wearing your glasses to protect them from impact (and accidental crushing).
Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Extreme temperatures can damage your eyewear. Avoid leaving them in a car in direct sunlight, or exposing them to sources of intense heat. Lenses and frames can deform under the effect of heat, compromising the anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coatings, which in turn will crack, giving an "orange peel" effect.
Add an Occasional Drop of Oil
If you happen to have all-purpose oil or a home lubricant, you can pour a drop or two onto the spring mechanism at the intersection of the temple and frame. This will help improve the performance and lifespan of the mechanism in question.
Don't Hesitate to Make the Necessary Adjustments
Glasses can become loose or deformed over time. This is normal, since you use them almost every day. If you notice that your glasses are slipping down your nose or that they're less comfortable than before, don't hesitate to come see us. We'll be happy to adjust the temples or nose pads for greater comfort and stability.
It doesn't take much time to care for your glasses, but these little gestures can greatly extend their lifespan and help maintain optimal vision. At Bonhomme à lunettes, we strongly encourage you to take these small steps to maintain the quality of your vision, but also because it's financially advantageous for you, and that's important too!
